Default Guages randomly stop working?

I have an '01 Blazer that recently just started having a problem with the guage cluster while driving. The fuel, temp guagues, and the gear indicator lights stop working and the battery, security, seatbelt and airbag lights come on. The truck runs fine mechanically and hasn't had any alternator/charge issues as of yet. Sometimes this happens for a split second and other times it lasts for miles. The only other problem worth mentioning is the fact that the back brakes were getting bad from the calipers hanging up which was making the abs and parking brake lights come on. Maybe this issue is actually linked to the current one? I'm just assuming the two aren't related.

I don't think they're releted. Try slightly turning the key back and forth when its acting up. May be the ignition switch.

I am having nearly the same problem (See "Wacky Warning Lites 98 Blazer" post from 1/14/13). The differences are that (1) my gas gauge almost never works at any time (it swings to past Full sometimes, then settles around 1/2 but is on Empty 99% of the time) and (2) my Airbag lite stays off. My mech told the gas gauge thing is a common problem and requires a new sending unit. A $5-600 job. Guess I'll live with it for now. I am anxious to try the wiggling the key suggestion.
