Default head lights isuue

I got this odd thing going on with my headlights. Even when the light switch is set to only the running lights the head lights come on too. The switch does nothing I can't change it from DRL to headlights at all. The only time I can turn it on and the headlights don't come on is when I crank it up with the E brake engaged. As soon as I let off the E brake the headlights come on

the daylight switch is most likely the problem. its the little button looking thing located at the right front dash speaker

thats your DRL lights. look up DRL delete if you want them off.
they come on when in gear...then the AHL (auto head lights ) will kick in at night. the AHL sensor is on the pass side under the dash speaker grille...that can be disabled as well.

But if the ahl sensor is bad wouldn't that automatically turn the headlights on as if it were dark out and override the DRL?

I have this same problem, my headlights are on all the time. Do I just need to replace that sensor in the speaker cover? The interesting part is that the dash lights turn on when it is dark but the head lights are always on when the truck is running. Is this normal?

when you canceled the DRL's does it effect the AHL's at all, I like the auto head lights, just dont need them on all day, only when its dark out. How did you cancel the drl's?

The AHL works like normal, I took the drl relay in the engine compartment, and bent one of the tabs. I am not sure what one it was. I know different years have different ways to cancel the DRLs.
