Help With coolant Sensor!!!
#1
Can anyone tell me where the coolant level sensor wire comes from or how put on a new one without having the old one? The one next to the EGR valve. The sensor is there. I noticed my plug and wire is missing and I bought a new plug and wire, but don't know where to connect it to. Please if anyone can tell that would be awesome. Its a 99' LT Blazer 4x4. Thanks

Sounds like someone swapped the lower intake manifold from an older vehicle. I believe that 99's should have one single coolant temp sensor located in the driver side cylinder head. While you may have a spot for it near the t-stat, it isn't necessary.

Oh ok. Thanks. I thought I was going crazy. We did swap the lower intake from a 96' blazer, but it was suppose to be an exact fit, I guess except for that. Is there anything else that might be different that you know of? And is a 96 manifold a good fit for a 99 blazer? Cause I am still having a random miss fire issue. I replaced the spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, coil and the distributor. I also brought it to pep boys to get it scanned to make sure it is timed correctly and it is.

Nothing really changed elsewhere. The misfire could be caused by dirty injectors/poppet nozzles. If you swapped the entire intake manifold (LIM, plenum, fuel system, etc) from the '96, the chances are high that the poppet nozzles are gummed up and are causing your random/multiple misfire problem. Cleaning rarely resurrects these things and often replacement is the only cure. The MFI upgrade spider does away with the often problematic poppet nozzles, putting the electronic injector right at the intake runner.

I was thinking of changing out the whole spider injector unit. I think thats what I will do. Hopefully it fixes it. Thanks alot for your help.

If you are thinking about replacing the whole spider, get the MFI upgrade kit. Seeing as how you have a '96 intake, you may need to get the revised bracket as well. It is shaped slightly different to allow for proper clearance around all of the injector lines which are a bit larger than the poppet nozzle spider had.

wait... where do I get this kit? So maybe this is the problem I am having. Because I used the 96' intake manifold with my 99 blazer spider assembly. Do think this could be causing the problem I am having?

I doubt that is causing your problem. The 96 & 99 spiders are nearly identical, however, GM did change the shape of the bracket that the spider mounts into sometime in 98 or 99. My 2000 didn't require a bracket.
As far as the MFI conversion kit, a search for "MFI+conversion" should turn up the relevant part numbers.

If it helps, my '99 Safari with 4.3 has the coolant temp sender next to the thermostat housing/EGR valve along with the one in the driver's side head.

I did find it at the dealer. It's about $40. I'll pick up the gasket kit and put it on hopefully it fits. So you think I should try putting on the gasket upgrade kit and the newer bracket?
