So my multifunction switch in my 2000 Jimmy took a crap today and I have no left turn signals. Since I'll be driving from the passenger seat anyhow(postal vehicle), and therefore can't reach the switch in the 1st place, does anyone know what wires, and where I would have to tap into to run a 3 way toggle for the signals?


Well it's not the multifunction switch after all. just put another one on since I have an extra, and I still have no left signals.

A quick background on how it all started:

Last night I was screwing in a bracket to the firewall below the steering shaft, and hit an electrical connector. I checked it out, and the screw ended up going into an empty space on the connector and did not hit any wires. I checked all lights and signals at that point, and everything worked fine.

Fast forward to this morning, and I had no DRL, signals, or hazard lights. Found the turn signal fuse in the cab blown. Replaced the fuse, and now the DRL, and right signals work, but no hazard lights, and when I hit the left signal, the combination flasher behind the glovebox just buzzes.

I replaced the combination flasher, and the problem was still the same, including the buzzing. I noticed that if I put just the right amount of pressure on the signal lever, the blinkers would work, so I figured the switch was bad, but it looks like that's not the case either.

A bit more info. When I replaced the fuse, all I had was a 25a. I just replaced it with another 20a, and the fuse blows as soon as I hit the left signal. I tested the 4 signal sockets up front, all have power, and running lights work.

 

Screw with the hazard switch. Common problem. When it starts to go bad, it'll cause all sorts of weird things with the turn signals, brake lights, & hazards.

I'm sure if I had enough time I could figure out a way to accomplish this electrically, but I would really just try to do it mechanically with a linkage of some sort as the truck has things split out between the LH/RH turn signal for the front and the LH/RH turn/brake signal for the rear. Maybe it is simple and I am just too tired to see it, but a linkage is simple as well.
