Question ignition problem

hey i have a 96 blazer 4x4 4.3L which i am having trouble with the ignition weird sometimes it starts right away and sometimes it wont no matter how many times i try to start it... the problem is when i turn the key to crank it it doesn't do nothing checked the battery its good than i thought it might be the starter and hit it a few times and it started right away so thought that was the problem but it keeps doing it and when it starts i don't have to touch the starter so i thought it could be my ignition switch because i was messing with the two wires coming out of the cylinder and it started but doesn't work all the time it just starts when it wants don't know if its the switch or the starter i think it might be the switch because the two wires that go in the cylinder are kinda lose but don't know what those are for they are green n brown and i noticed that i can shift the gears without the key in the ignition can someone please help me figure this out?

the little green/brown wires that go to the lock cylinder are the key left in the switch alarm. the main switch is the black square with all the wires comeing out. i was having starting problems on a 97 blazer(it would always turn over though),but the dash lights ie. the warning lights and the buzzer that comes on when you turn the key on did not. i had to replace the switch. i tore the old switch apart and all the little contacts showed signs of overheating. i read some where that you can clean them up and put the switch back together. im no genious with puzzles but i'd say it would be almost impossible to do
