I am having a few problems with the interior lighting on a recently purchased Blazer.

(#1) All of the interior dash lights and the headlights will "pulse" or "flicker" when the vehicle is driving as well as under idle. This is not a constant issue. One long road trips the lights will stop "pulsing" or flickering" from time to time.

(#2) The lights on the radio do not light up. The only lights that light up are in the display window.

(#3) The lights on the second half of the "climate control", or the switch that determines what vents blow air, are very dim. Also, the lights on the window switch of the passenger door do not light up.

(#4) I do not have Auto 4WD. I do have 4WD. The orange light on the 4WD switch goes out and comes back on from time to time. This happens while the vehicle is at idle and during operation.


The battery is only three months old. The cables going into the battery were corroded. I removed them and cleaned the corrosion off but the problem still persists. I took the vehicle to an auto parts store. They test the battery and the alternator and they both tested fine.

I have the exact same issue with my 99 Blazer LT (140k miles). It started with the dash lights not lighting when the head lights came on then moved to this. When the lights flicker the voltage gauge drops as well. I have a new alternator and had it recently tested as well.

Ideas anyone?
