Default Interor lights staying on despite door being shut

I own a 2001 Blazer Trailblazer. The door hinges were sagging and I let it go too far and had them fixed. But the dome light stays on even when the door is shut. I push the switch in and they still stay on. I know the locking mechanism is broke, but I have no idea if the two are connected. I have corrected multiple problems using this forum site but this one seems to be eluding me.

The door has a latch sensor that will turn on the dome light when you pull the handle even when the door remains shut. If the locking mechanism is broken, the latch sensor may be telling you that. Either that or the sensor is defective.

Similar issue here.
