Default L.E.D. Headlight and R. Wiper Switch

This is a 2000 Blazer. Ive been in the process of switching all of the lights in my truck to blue L.E.D.s So far I have the Cluster, HVAC, Foot Wells, and Dome switched out. I recently bought some loose leds to do the the headlight and rear wiper switches. I bought a 3mm component for the headlight switch. Blue 3mm LED | Component LEDs | Super Bright LEDs

and a 5mm component for the Rear wiper. 5mm Blue LED | Component LEDs | Super Bright LEDs

When I put them in and plugged it up. Both of the lights blew. The one for the headlight switch actually ruined the switch too. Can someone tell me where I messed up? I really want to get these switched to LED but now im nervous to try again. Thanks!

Too much power going into the LED, I am guessing its a constant 12v going through the switch. I tried to do my 4wd indicator lights, and ran into this same problem. I'm sure someone else can chime in here, but in this situation you might not be able to put LED's in those

If you are replacing regular bulbs with leds, you need a resistor to bring the voltage down to around 3v. I have no idea what value you would need, but I'm sure google can help you there.

I might be way off here, but what if I bought something like this. NEOx LED Bulb - High Power Instrument Panel LED | LED Lights for Cars | 12v | Super Bright LEDs

those can handle the 12v. Could I just unbend the wire and pull it out of that bulb socket?

I believe it would be easier to pull these out for that purpose.

Or if you want, go to the resistance finder here and type in your values and just buy the resistors to go with them.

I just did my gauge leds. Just wondering if I can see a pic of your hvac leds. Which 74 bulbs did you buy. I'm stuck on these 74s, I have the smd-5 194s so I want it just as bright.TY

Well mine was a 95 so my hvac was a different style. You will have a hard time getting the same light levels from a 74 because it is a much smaller bulb, but these have 3 smd leds per bulb and should put out more light than the other 'regulation' sized bulbs.

Thanks Thogert. I ordered my 74 from Amazon and my 3,4mm from superbrightleds.com. I also bought the led tails. Thanks for that hyper flash video. That worked perfect!
