Default No start after strange possible electrical issue

Yesterday my door locks unlocked and locked, my guages died and came back my abs light came on and the engine lost power and went back to normal. when I got to my destination i got a crank no start and my daytime running lights don't go on when the key is on and my guages do not respond.

any ideas

I was thinking Body Control Module but from what I see on Mitchel on demand there is no BCM on a 1997 Blazer

I was also thinking A ground possibly but last on I saw with that issue (this was a tahoe not a blazer) still ran just not very well

It sounds like it may be your ignition switch. Check out this link which can help you diagnose. https://blazerforum.com/forum/articl...-switch-33465/

That shouldn't go out after just hitting a bump. No signs of anything failing till I hit a bump

I agree with rock2p

The ignition switch for 1997 is unique to that year. It is known to cause seemingly non-related electrical issues, much like what you're experiencing. I'd start there and check voltage at the ignition switch connector.... several wires, you'll need a schematic and a digital volt ohm meter.

Not restricted to 1997's...my 1999 has the same issue. Mechanic has tried lots of stuff (new fuel pump, new starter after he shorted it). I still think it is the ignition switch. Might try that next.

The problem is not unique, it can happen on others year vehicles as well, it's just not as common. The 1997 ignition switch is the only year they used that specific part number, it was redesigned in 1998.

check the battery , alternator
Low voltage when the alternator dies can cause weird electrical issues
