Lots of questions about airbags
So today I went ahead to see why my airbag light stays on. I ripped out the center console (to lubricate the squeaky shifter) and found that there is an open 2-pin black connector right where the drivers seatbelt attaches. Can someone check what that connector is and where it should be connected? There are no other open connectors visible in the vicinity. Knowing that airbags will not deploy when the seatbelt is not on, led me to the conclusion that it could very well be the problem I have been searching for. I also removed the airbag control unit and it looks good. I have a generic OBDII USB device and have been trying to interface it with the airbag module, but so far no luck (I'm a hobbyist electronics engineer). Is there any other way to get trouble codes from the Airbag Control Unit. Could it also be that because the car has been in a crash there would be some sort of crash data recorder and the airbag system would not work. I know that all the sensors and the airbag itself are installed.
The car is a 1997 Chevrolet Blazer LT.
Any help is appreciated!
