I have continuity on pin 7 unplugged to sw/leg of sensor..
ground shot where to where?
Power shot, same question.
Also, with ipc plugged in, continuity thru cluster to test pins

You unplug the wire that connects the sensor to the IPC at both ends:
Measure resistance between both ends of the now open wire
Measure the resistance between the IPC end of the totally unconnected wire to ground
Measure the voltage from the IPC end of the totally open wire to battery ground.
What was the result of grounding pin 7 on the IPC?

I didn't see your update before posting that article link.
If I understand you correctly you unplugged the tan wire that connects the OP sensor to pin 7 on the IPC at both ends and then measured the resistance between both open ends of that isolated wire and got a reading of infinite ohms (sometimes a "1" on the meter)? If so, go find the break or corrosion in that wire, repair it and use the existing sensor.
What was the result of ground pin 7 of the IPC with the fused wire?

Ground pin 7 of the IPC through a 3A fused wire and see if the oil pressure gauge now reads zero. If so, the IPC is good.
Now measure the resistance in ohms of the unplugged OP sender first with the engine off and at idle. You should read low or zero ohms off and tens of ohms at idle.
Test the wire. I updated paragraph 4 with pictures:
