What about the backlight bulb for the headlight/thumbwheel dimmer switch?

When you say you checked the fuses, did you check the ones under the hood too?

Regarding cleaning the switch solder joints, how were you doing it? Did you have the switch out of the vehicle? Could you have shorted something in the switch inadvertently?

This reminds me of when I had a similar problem. It turned out I had a short in my radio. (Somehow a couple of nickels got put into it!) But I kept having one of my fuses blowing. This was one of the ones accessed at the side of the instrument panel. But you said none of your fuses have blown so I don't know what to suggest.

Check illum fuse 12, 10A in the IPFB and str whl ill fuse 6, 2A in the IPFB. If those are both intact and you have no IPC lights or steering wheel control lights in the manual park or headlight positions then your headlamp switch and its dimmer wheel are probably toast. We can test for this if you want to confirm. Those lamps can also get power from the BCM in automatic mode (headlamp switch in auto/manual off).

They would be connected by way of the circuits that illuminate the switches when the headlights are on.

And Congrats!
