Default Off road light wiring gage size?

Ok guys I just bought a set of eBay lights they're 55w halogen and they came in a set of 4.

4pc Black 6 5" Round Off Road Truck Super 4x4 Fog Lights H3 Bulbs Harness | eBay

The harnesses they came with aren't long enough to reach up onto my roof where the lights will be mounted. From the looks of it they would barely reach the grille if I had room to mount them there. From what I've found I should be running 12ga wire but when I spliced the ends of the wires it was a 16ga so now I'm stumped what size wire should I use to extend the harness to reach the roof?

Depending on overall length, 16-14 gauge is probably good. If you already have the 12 gauge wire, I'd use that.

I'm thinking I'll need to add 10-15 ft because the harness might be able to reach into the cab but that's it . Would that be ok?

I'd go at least 14 gauge then.

So I should go with the 12 ya then and will I lose a lot of the light output?

I think for my main harness is 10ga and then splits off to 14 or 16 from the main wire to the lights in the harness I built. The best solution is to use a relay so that you don't have to run a heavy gauge cable into the cab and to the toggle switch.

The kit came with a inline fuse and relay the wires just aren't long enough to reach through the cab and onto the roof
