Default power outage after caused by another issue

Hello guys. I have a compound problem. I have a 2000 Chevy blazer and it's in great shape. I had an issue with the muffler, replaced it and then the passenger flange gasket went while driving it home. The heat from it caused some damage but I'm not sure the extent of it. I haven't been able to find diagrams on which harnesses run through that area of the firewall and around the heater core.

On the way home that evening, I lost all lights and had to drive home on my fog lights. After pulling into my driveway, there was a lot of smoke in the vehicle. I think the heat from the exhaust melted the heater core. Now the dash harness is smoking (shorting out) as well as other damage. I can't seem to find the main issue and start repairs. It's in too good of shape to pitch it. I have an 04 that I can scavenge for parts (some may fit, some may not).

Now, nothing responds, no lights, not fan, won't start.

What is located in that corner of the engine bay? do you have any diagrams?

How can I test the computer to be sure it's not fried?

Any and all questions and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This is how I tow my boat and I"m very discouraged.

Thanks in Advance!!

Welcome to the forum. Have you been able to find the area of physical wire harness damage? Are any of your fuses blown? This can be open circuits or shorts to power, ground or other signal wires so any one of those circuits could be bringing down many others.

No, I have been looking as the weather permits but I haven't found any areas of damaged yet other than the heater core plastic was melted. I know there's a harness that goes through the heater core but I haven't been able to find where it runs to from the firewall side. I'm trying to find some diagrams that show which wiring harnesses run through that area. It's very difficult to see in that area. I'm wondering as well if I may have the p c m and if I can just swap another one to see if it runs. Just scratching the surface of the problem but I hate to get rid of it because it is in such great shape and I've done a decent amount of work to it

There are plenty of wiring diagrams for our blazers but I am unaware of any diagrams that show the layout of the wiring harnesses. Do you have any blown fuses?
