Question Question about CB radio and amp

Hey everyone, I have a quick question about a CB radio and PA speaker.

Does it matter what size amp I hook the speaker / CB Radio up to? I have an 800 watt amp that I'm running my subwoofer off of and was wondering if I could run a 65watt speaker and a CB radio off of this same amp, or would it blow the speaker?

Thanks in advanced.

Ian

No where close to being compatible parts.

that is an understatement

the amp for cb radios is a high-power linear amplifier and it is used to boost the send and receive power of the radio not the sound level of the speaker

Footwarmers don't boost receive very well (cleanly) so I wouldn't say they boost that at all. Main function is pretty much to boost the transmission of the radio.

I don't plan on using the CB radio as a radio, just as a PA system for the truck, which will be directly wired to the PA speaker. Still a no?

Basically, I just want to wire the Amp to the CB/Speaker for power.

Could be done but would have more time and trouble in it than a $20 pa speaker is worth.

So what do you suggest that I do? Just wire it directly to the battery(CB / Speaker)?
