Default Rear defroster voltage

I've been fighting getting the rear defroster on my 94 S10 Blazer working. Voltage was good at the back, and I tracked the problem down to the rear window lift supports not passing electricity through. I realized that the ends on the lift supports screw on, and they weren't tight, so the defroster tabs weren't making a good electrical connection. I tightened everything up, and now the defroster seems to be working.

My concern is: the resistance across the lift supports is not zero. I can't remember exactly what I measured with my multimeter, but it was more than 10 ohms. When the vehicle is running, the window grid itself has about 12 volts across it, and each lift support has about 1 volt across it. Is that pretty typical, or is it more typical to expect the full 14-ish volts to be across the window grid (meaning the resistance of my lift supports is too high)?

Thanks for any info!
