Default rear wiper

So my rear wiper hasnt worked, i cant remember when it last has worked. I want to get it working again. So I made sure that the wiper arm is tightened up and it is. When i switch the wiper on you can hear the motor and the wiper will move an inch but it stops, it doesnt come back down after that. Also sometimes when the wiper isnt even switched on you will hear a ticking sound which I think is also from the motor. Im wondering what my issue is here

The proper way to diagnose this is to get that rear gate open so that you can get a meter on the wiring/motor. Let me know if I can help
