Default RKE (remote keyless entery) Problems

So i've had this truck for several months an put alot of work into it, still needs work to be perfect but drives awesome right now, and i figured i would buy a Genuine GM remote online from Discount Keyless threw amazon.com The remote works fine (tested at autozone) although i could not get the truck in programming mode. So i called customer support, they then told me to call a dealership and have them see if RKE was installed at the factory. So when i called em, they told me No. So my question is can i find a RKE module unit at the junkyard from say a newest 2000 blazer or a 2001 and just plug it in and program the remote? I have a 2000 chevy blazer LS 4 door 4x4. I was curious someone knew where the unit is located and it would be much appreciated for your help. If i find where the unit could have been installed mabby the wire is there already on the wire harness.

My factory module on my 97 is under the dash, on the drivers side, around where the OBDII port is, mine is actually attached to the panel that the OBD port is on. As far as if its a direct swap, I couldn't help you out there my friend

Thanks KerbyG, i was recently at the junkyard and noticed that one was around that area and idk at the time but i suspected it was the RKE unit, i'm still looking into if it is a direct swap becuase it might not be as easy as i hope. The computer may have to be changed in order to get it to work.

No problem.you could always call around d to local shops to see if they can install a factory module for you, if you can't seem to figure it out
