Default Security Light Always On ?

Hello everyone out there ! I have been a long time reader to the Forum but my recent troubles have made me sign up to get some needed info from everyone out there.

What is going on is the security light is always on and the car does have a P1626 Theft Deterent Fuel Enable Circut Code. It just cranks over starts and then dies. Long story short is i took it to a local trusted shop and their newest Snap On Scanner could communicate with the VCM and every other system in the Blazer except for the BCM so I took the car to a stealership and had them use their Tech 2 scanner and they said it needed a new VCM and that at almost $1000 would solve them problem I declined the repairs. I found a VCM rebuilding place had it sent out and they called and told me tht their was no problem within the VCM and they had no idea what to fix ? I am at a loss as to where to go from here ? I have done some research and have come up with Splice Pack 201 as a common place to start but I have tore apart the underneath of the dash and can not seem to find it ?

If anyone has any info at all please let me know as I am dead in the water without my Blazer !

Thanks in dvance

When you say VCM do you mean vehicle control module? More then likely its a short to ground or short to voltage between the PCM (powertrain control module) or the BCM (body control module) connections. Or bent or distorted connectors of the Data link connector. If not then the BCM needs replacement.

Yes I do mean Vehicle Control Module. The shop I took it to even tried running all new Class 2 data lines between the VCM and BCM and the Data Link Connector and still could not access the BCM with the scanner. I don't know if by doing that if that negates the short to ground or short to voltage theory ?

Thanks in advance !

Well here is an update for all the techs out there. The local shop is stumped and now the car is at the dealer and they are stumped. Basically both the shop and dealer said everyhting in their diagnostic information from the manual says there is no problems, but still when you try top start the car it just starts and dies ? There is no security light on, it does turn on for a few seconds when you turn the key on then when the car starts and dies it flashes for a few seconds and then goes off. The delaer has replaced the VCM and still nothing, I don't know what to do from here i am sure I am not the only person that has ever had this problem ?

Thanks BBBlazer
