yeah the switches may work but it looks like that fuse takes care of the lighting aspect of the fuses from the looks of it....
Easy way to do a fuse check with a multimeter is to do a continuity test where it will beep if there is continuity. You put the leads on the tips of the fuses on the top where the number is and if you get the beep, you've got continuity. if not you get a blown fuse.
another way is to turn the key on and check for a fuse that has voltage on one side but not the other.

sorry to bump a dead thread....

Just had the same thing happen to me. 2000 Blazer, replaced the stereo and now the dash lights and overhead compass don't work.

Checked any fuse I thought could be the problem.....(illumination, gauges, etc...)

Did anyone find the solution? Would appreciate any guidance.

Thanks!

Andre

the only wiring diagram I have is the chiltons version. according to that diagram, the factory stereo had a brown wire coming from the headlight switch, and a gray wire coming from the instrument panel dimmer. neither of these wires had a connection on the new (cheap pioneer) stereo that I installed.

i'm figuring that since I've lost instrument panel lights, and the headlight switch, that these two wires are the culprit. (also noticed this morning that the drl's did not come on, and the overhead compass is working...last night, the auto headlights came on and the compass was not working, i'm guessing there is a correlation there as well)

any clue as to how I can terminate those two wires so that I'll regain use of the panel lights and headlight switch?

Thanks!

Andre
