Stuck in P and no Dash
Hey everyone,
I hope someone can help me out here. yesterday my mom took my 1998 GMC Jimmy to the store and back. its an automatic with the floorshifter. She said that it had a hard time getting out of park and when i went to look at it i had to use the manual override tab underneath the shifter. after doing this all day yesterday leaving my house and leaving work, me and a buddy thought we would investigate on what was wrong with it. there is a plug with 5 wires underneath the shifter that looks like it plugs into something attached to the shifter. well there was a few wires that were broken under here and one of us accidentally ripped one out of the plug. so now all thats left is the black wire and now i have no first gear and the only thing in my dash that works is the volt meter and the oil pressure. should i reconnect the wires that were broken/pulled out? will that fix all of my problems? i was planning on reconnecting these but not sure how exactly.
thanks for the input, sorry this was so long
