Switched Auxiliary Power Outlets

1 Attachment(s)
So I thought I'd share what I did to take one of the auxiliary power outlets and have it switched by the retained accessory power (RAP) system.

Basically, it entails using the RAP power to control a relay that is normally closed to then allow power to go to one of the power outlets. I used a relay so to preserve the fused power supply to the power outlet. The relay is installed between the plug for the power outlet and the power outlet itself. The attached file slows the schematic of my wiring harness and the parts I used. The LED serves as a indicator lamp thatshows the outlet is energized. The diode across the relay is a "flyback" diode that protects any ESD sensitive electronics from the voltage spike that can occur when the relay coil is de-energized.

I posted about tapping into the RAP circuit at the Body Relay Block here: https://blazerforum.com/forum/lighti...-access-96173/

Now I can leave something connected to this outlet without worrying about draining the battery.

Wiring harness. White lead connects to RAP. The bottom two connectors go between the plug to the power outlet and the power outlet.

P.S. Yes, I know I'm very much a Nerd-Girl! LOL
