Default Using back up socket for extra taillight

I was thinking about cutting the wires to my back up bulbs and then wiring them into the tail lights for a third red light in the lens. Rhen running the wires for the back up lights to a super bright LED bar mounted on the bottom of the bumper.
Anyone seen or done this before?
Thoughts and suggestions wanted! Thanks!!

Sounds like it would work, but you'll have to either tint the reverse lamp part of the lens red or use a red LED bulb, since the lens is clear for the reverse lamp portion...

You'd want to use a relay setup if you plan on running an actual LED light bar. That is, the factory reverse light circuit trips a relay that pulls power right from the battery and then delivers it to the LED bar when the relay is tripped.

May I ask what makes you want to do this?

I have a hard time seeing out the back at night with tinted windows. The back up light bar was the first thought, using the available socket for extra tail light was an afterthought.

Why not just tap into the trailer harness and put a reverse light bar and extra lights that way?
