Default Wacky wipers

Got a strange question for everyone. On both my families 'S-15 Gypsy (high end Jimmy) and '94 Blazer the wipers engage completely at random. Usually it is one swipe but, living in florida, the sand really scratches the glass. I've dealt with this for awhile on the Gypsy but since momma is really wanting to drive the blazer, this is a problem I really need to deal with this (she wants the truck to be "perfect" and this is the last problem before I give it to her).

HELP!

my guess, my 91 s10 did this, is a touchy mutilfunction switch (turns, wipers, sprays switch on the steering wheel) or possibly a fuse <----- id check that first.

Thanks everyone for the advise, at least I know I'm not alone on this.

On the fuse, found that one out the hard way! This past April I was in a situation where I was forced to drive the blazer through a torrential down pour (visiblity was literally 6" past the windshield, forget seeing past the hood). Once the weather broke, I checked the fuse and there wasnt one there!!!!!! So I put one in and thats when I discovered this stupid "phantom swipe". Hell of a solution huh? Fix the swipe by disabling a critical safety feature!

Just wanted to give everyone an update. Spoke to the dealer today and they said that the above listed part numbers could be ordered for $107 though they are only for the 85-90 blazers (which is a good thing as my dads '89 Gypsy needs this). For the '91-94 blazers the correct part number (for the tilt colums) is 26030425. This part will run me $131 and is also a special order item. On the plus side, the parts can be had next day, yaa.
