Where can I get a DIC?

Hi there,
My '99 Blazer didn't come with the Driver Information System (aka DIC) but with Temperature and Compass Display.

From what I've read, installing the Information System isn't too difficult, given you have one.

I've checked eBay, Amazon and sites alike trying to find one for sale with no luck.

So, where can I get one DIC?

One minor thing: I live in Colombia, so I'd need to have the DIC shipped either down here or to my mail box in Miami.

do you have wreaking yards down there that you might be able to get one out of?

Diaita 02-03-2014 01:58 PM

There are several on eBay most of the time.
Found this.

Thanks for your answer. Now I know what to look for.
Does the one you found on eBay fit my '99 Blazer. Are they all compatible?

Thanks Diaita.
There aren't any wreaking yards down here. Besides, the Blazers that were sold here, they all came with the compass/temp display. The DIC is an option they didn't offer here.

Yeah that one on ebay will fit your Blazer. I would jump on it if I were you! Not a bad price and they ship worldwide:)

PS: Your OP was hilarious to read with the mindset of a 13 year old boy lol!!!

Installation guide

Hi guys,

Has anybody got an installation guide? Wanna remove the compass/temp display and install the Information Center.

Do I need anything extra?

Thanks

I just did this last night. I got my DIC out of an astro van at my local pick n pull. Mine had the 9 pin connector, but pins 7 and 8 weren't used. Pins 1-6 are the same from left to right on each overhead console, even though the wires don't match up, so keep those in order and splice those together. Now you should have one wire left that you need to run. Take a length of wire, atleast 5 feet long. Now run this from pin 9, through the headliner, down the A-Pillar, into the dash, until it reaches your OBD II connector. Now your going to have to pull that little plastic cover out where your feet sit, its 4-5 7mm bolts. Now pull that down and look for the purple wire. Strip the insulation back just a bit, and splice your wire that you ran from pin 9 into it. This is your serial data bus, where the overhead console gets all of its info from. Now button everything back together and your good to go! When your done, you may notice the compass function says C on it, all you have to do is find an empty parking lot and drive in a circle a couple times, it'll program itself. Good luck and happy modding!!

I got a S-10 console in the mail yesterday. I already dissected it. Can't wait to install it following farley463's instructions.
