Default 95 Cutlass compressor jump

How do you jump the compressor pump on this car? The cycling switch has three wires on it. Or is there another way. Need to fill with R134a refrigerant. Thanks.

That car has a pressure sensor, not a pressure switch. You cannot jumper the sensor. You need to supply +12V to the dark green wire at the compressor clutch if you want to force the compressor to run. If all you are doing is refilling the system, then try adding refrigerant with the compressor off to see if you can raise the system pressure enough to get the compressor to be turned on by the car instead of bypassing things.

Thanks for the info. "try adding refrigerant with the compressor off to see if you can raise the system pressure enough to get the compressor to be turned on by the car instead of bypassing things." Yea but how do I know how much is in the system now and how much to add. Takes 2lbs. even. Thanks.

If you are weighing in the charge, then just add away until you get to 2lbs. If you are not weighing in the charge, then the weight needed really doesn't matter...

How are you recharging the system? Have you evacuated the system to purge it of air first?

Yea I need to evac yet. About two hrs. Then see if it holds @ 29.4. If not will have to run some dye through the system. Seems to have some pressure in the system yet. Don't know what it is at. I believe it needs to be 42 or so for the compressor to kick in.

This car is a 95. What typically causes the pressure to become low. Is the most likely cause a sloooooow leak or just a long time period of refigerant becoming used. Thanks.
