Default Alberta is underwater! Warning pic heavy

What a spring! We've bean drenched all spring. Calgarys getting some severe flooding around the rivers. Went to attempt to get to my job site this morning but roads into downtown were closed. Now I'm glad didn't go down there because its all under evacuation now. 100 000 evacuated now. Myself and my friends and family are all in safe areas. An interesting note is the zoo has a contingency plan to evacuate the large cats to the jail cells beneath the court house.

Cant imagine that type of flooding
My home is on fairly high ground but I guess it could still happen but there would be lots of stuff completely underwater

we could use some of that here
last spring was drought here and pretty much f'd my lawn
this year has been much better

stay safe and remember cars and trucks don't swim well

I saw this on the news this morning, and yeah last summer was pretty much all dust where I was. No rain at all.

Ya, Ive never seen this river this high before. It seems last few years its either too much or too little rain. I have just moved out of the area i photographed. Real lucky not to be down in the valley anymore, but my blazer was broken into in the new neighborhood Dont know how to call my luck anymore!

I would love to see a photo inside the rink. As a die hard hockey fan it is hard to hear about the destroyed photographs. There is a poster of the Stanley Cup celebration signed by all the players on the ice and it was destroyed since the whole locker room is under water.

Edit: As I typed that this was posted on twitter. http://flames.nhl.com/club/gallery.htm?id=36968

A guy I work with was planing a convention in the dome this weekend. He sent me this pic, from the first bowl looking down on the floor level seating.
Defenentaly unbelievable. Good thing the flames didn't make the cup this year.
All the electronics and mechanical systems for the building and rink are down in the basement level too. I had even done some work down there renovating a new locker for the work juniors last year.

Edit. Wow I just looked through that flames site mattjphoto posted, pretty wild stuff.
The stampede is scheduled to start second week if July. I'm having trouble imaging the city being ready by then.

Here's another picture from google images of the inside of the Saddledome. The flooding in southern Alberta is insane.
