Buying a Car! Need Help!
Hey guys!
My dad and I are buying a classic car. We found this Camaro and it looked good.
Now the price seems a little low for this. I'm gonna share the e-mails with you between my dad and him. It seems way to good to be true and were scared about scams.
We sent a message via the Site and got this back
HIM - "Hello
I apologize for the delay but I was busy and thanks for taking interest in buying my car. The asking price is $4114 as i have to sell it due to a divorce settlement.
The car is currently located in Reno,NV where i used to live with my ex wife. Where are you located?
It hasn't been involved in any accidents, no rust, no wrecks, no flood damage whatsoever.Always been a non smoking vehicle.
So please reply to me if you need additional information.
P.S:The phone company make some upgrades in my area and my phone line is down . If you have other questions , please email me and I will reply asap .
Regards,"
US - "thanks for the reply. can you list all options, auto, ac, etc. inside condition. ls car drivable? what does it need? how long have you owned it? any more pictures? engine size and mods?"
HIM - "Hello again,
The car is located in Reno, NV sealed and ready for the shipping. Shipping will be done via DAS and it will take no more then 2-3 days top (depending on your exact location).
I have a contract with Yahoo Finance so this deal must go through them. I'm very busy with my job and I'm left out of the town so I can't meet in person with you so this is the reason why I chose to sell my car over the internet. According to Yahoo Finance you have 5 days from the time you receive the car to inspect it and decide if you want to keep it or not.
Here is how it will work:
1.First of all I will need the following details from you:
- Full Name
- Full Shipping Address
- Working Phone#
2. After I will receive the details from you, I will forward them to Yahoo Finance .
3. After they will process your info, they will send us both invoices. The invoice will send you the details on how to make a refundable payment.
4. You will send the payment to Yahoo Finance . They will hold in trust the funds and advise me to ship to your address.
5. Yahoo Finance will contact me and I will ship the car to you. After you receive the car you will have 5 days to test, verify and do whatever you need to the car. If you will buy, then I will receive the payment details from Yahoo Finance so that I can pick up the money.
6. If you will decide that you will not buy the car, Yahoo Finance will refund the money and I will have the shipping company come pick up my car. If you wish to make the transaction, please send me the necessary info so that we can proceed.
I look forward to hear from you.
Thank you,"

See what they say to the fly down and have a look comment.

If he says "No need to come and see, if you pay shipping you can pay for the car when you get it" or anything along those lines it's a SCAM... if he harasses you for money or a deposit SCAM... most likely anyway.
Keep us posted. Something's fishy here...

The drivetrain is worth the 5k, and the interior is in good shape with no rust, someone would sell that car for 10k+ easily... I dont think its legit because of the autoshipping...

This is def a scam. When looking for a new car after my wreck a year ago, I came across alot of these to good to be true deals with the same responses.

It's usually covered by a "My husband divorced me so I'm selling the car for next to nothing." I saw a 60's split window 'Vette for 4,500 once with that story... I just laughed and kept browsing.

RUN! RUN AWAY FAST!
It is clearly a scam. I saw lots of those type ads when I was searching for a motorhome last year. The shipping thing is a dead give away. If it was such a good deal, it would sell locally. The divorce story is really popular, so is the "away in Iraq" story. Save yourself the drama and stay away.

That what I was thinking but my dad wants to see what comes out. He said he really wouldn't mind spending a $1000 to make sure its legit! We were gonna drive down and bring it back by trailer but then he said it was ready to ship.
No reply yet but it took him a day to reply the first time so were gonna wait till tomorrow.
