Default carb question

it pertains to my 86 firebird t/a it has a 305 an the electronic feedback carb i was told by the po that i wont run right if the carb is hooked up but when its unhooked it runs rich. And theres no wires for the electric choke. how do i wire up the choke and are these carb known to have problems?

PO's are always idiots.

Here's an article you can read and learn what the feedback carb is all about.

usually electric chokes just need a solid 12v going to it with the key in the on position. i think i just spliced off my HEI wire in my 86. and yeah you can just put on a holley or any non electrical carb on there and shouldnt have any problem . i put a 87 305 out of a monte in one of my trucks and it never ran right with that stupid carb on it
