Default Deep Socket Set

So I'm looking for a deep socket set. Right now I'm just looking for one in 3/8ths and as I get the money I expand to a few of the other drive sizes. The problem is I can't decide on one.

Heres what I've found so far that I like (as does my pocketbook)

Sears: Online department store featuring appliances, tools, fitness equipment and more I wish I could find it in 6pt

Sears: Online department store featuring appliances, tools, fitness equipment and more This one is nice in that its 6pt but its 1/4th drive and I've snapped so many of those it isn't funny

GearWrench 14 Pc. Metric 12 Pt. Deep Socket Set 3/8" Drive : Sears Outlet If I could find its SAE counterpart I'd buy it!

Lastly the mother of all sets but I dunno if I could afford it
Sears: Online department store featuring appliances, tools, fitness equipment and more

So thats kind of what I'm looking for...any help would be great guys

I wouldn't get a deep set in anything but 6 point. Mine is a craftsman and its 6 point but I got mine in a 200+ kit.

I actually got mine from Autozone when they had deep wall socket sets for 3/8 on sale. Got a great deal and they have seen a lot of abuse! They withstood everything I've thrown at 'em.

That may be true however I wouldn't trust the soft Chinese metal used to make the tools. I've had Chinese c-clamps bend like they were made of silly putty while my old Craftsman took it like a champ. I've also had Chinese made screw-in tent stakes (to hold down my Wife's craft tent) straight up snap with a tiny amount of torque placed on them.

Eh whether it be Chinese, Japanese, or Lebanese if it gets the job done, I don't give a hoot. Personally I'm not a professional mechanic, so I don't see the point in buying top shelf tools. Plus I can't afford them. Nothing a little wd-40 can't loosen (usually). The only craftsman and other american tools I have are a few craftsman screwdrivers and a sparta ratchet that looks like it has been through a civil war. That sparta ratched is a freakin' tank! No lie!

tibby has a point...about half my tools are random crap given to me and god knows most of them are made who knows where and very few of them have ever failed me.

If you're making your living with your tools then go with snap on, craftsman, or s&k. If not then find the best deal you can with a lifetime warranty. Over the years my good craftsman tools got lost, stolen, sockets got eaten by various projects. Still most of my tools are still craftsman.

Most of my tools at work are klein.

The tools I at the house are mostly craftsman. If its some oddball tool you might use once a year the cheap stuff might work. You buy good tools you are also buying a good warranty. Replacing broken cheap tools add up and in the end you could have spent the money on one good set.

My 200 piece craftsman set I got a few years ago while sears had a fathers day sale for $150. I been waiting till they have sales and add to it ever since. I also own some kobalt stuff but you have to be careful with them. They have a lifetime warranty but only if they have the same exact tool still in stock. I broke a pair of their pliers and cause they changed the stupid handles I couldn't exchange them. Had to send them off and they mailed me a check. A good bit of their stuff is china made and guess where those were from. On a plus side anything kobalt I have that's US made has been good.
