I have a 2000 chevy blazer 4x4 4.3L V6 4 door. I was wondering, i bought my car used in 2005 and have never driven it in the snow. I will be going to my cabin for hunting season next sunday and I will be driving on snow covered dirt roads for like 7 miles to get to my cabin. I expect there to be about 4 inches of snow on these dirt roads. My question is: Can my blazer handle this? Or will I get stuck? I have driven in snow before, its nothing new, just never in my blazer. I have driven a ford explorer and envoy with 4x4 and had no problems before. Just needed some advice. Some spots on these dirt roads have steep hills and inclines and such. I really wanna make this trip. The thing is, once i hit the dirt road i lose all cell phone signals, its a dead zone. Deep in the woods. I have a lot of weight in the back of my blazer and will bring a shovel and salt and stuff. Just tell me about your experiences driving in the snow with a similar blazer. Thanks.

 

you should be ok as long as your tires are good and your 4x4 works. i dont know what the trails looklike but you sound ok.

 

These tucks are awsome in the snow. You should have no problems.

The type of tires you have will be your only limiting factor in only 4' of snow. If you have basic street tires, you may end up spinning here and there on some of the hills. If they are rated M&S you should be fine. If they are ATs you are good to go.

 

So what are you saying that it does good or bad? Because I drove all over upstate NY last winter through snow up to 3' with no problems.

 

Yeah, I have 4 brand new tires, They are Uniroyal Cross country tires, all season. And, Yes, My 4x4 works fine. Now, I have 4x4 high and low i believe, I should only use the one right below the 2x4 button in the light snow stuff, but if it is heavy I want to use the bottom 4x4 button. I get the 4x4 high and low mixed up. I have 4x4 shift on the fly too. But, whenever I used 4x4 before, i usually just stop completely then change to 4x4. I guess I will be okay, I have seen some videos on youtube of blazers in the snow, Yeah they do good in the snow. My tread on my tires is at about 90% brand new. I have a brand new optima battery under the hood, so i know I am good there. Thanks.

 

This was a few weeks ago up hunting in about a foot and a half of snow. You have nothing to worry about.
