Question Help Wanted, not Blazer related

Hi. Everyone here has been such great help in the past, so I thought I would seak your help on another issue. My mother has a 98 Buick Century that she loves. Problem is, the gear shift (column shift) is difficult to shift into and out of Park. It's harder than my Blazer. She has pretty bad arthritis in her shoulders and this is becoming a problem. Is there a spring that can be changed? Or some such thing.

Thanks in advance

Dont park on hills? I thought it was more related to the transmission than a spring... I think you might wanna check that out... my blazer is only hard to shift when parked on inclines

Actually, I thought about that myself, but it's hard to shift on level ground. It feels like it's from the steering column end, not the tranny itself.

i did have a full size GM column give me similar issues years ago, and it was throughout the range of gear selection, not just shifting from park.

i ended up tearing apart the column, and re-lubing the internals. seemed to work in my case.

Thanks. I may try that this weekend. I have even considered lubing all the linkages. The thing that gets me is it's not really moving out of park, it's pulling the lever toward you.
