Thank you for my "A" in thermo physics and calc....
anyway. 3.73 Gears is a stock option on the blazers. i have 3.73 in my personal 4x4. in my work blazer, which does a ton of highway miles and is 2wd, it has 3.42.
in my 4x4 i get pretty good highway mileage. about 20 or so. around town...well thats a different story, it only gets about 14-15.
in my work blazer i get about 17-18 avg. i dont know what i get in town with it because i dont do enough town driving. normally when that thing leaves the drive way, its about 60-80 miles on the highway before i get actually get to work...
i am hoping that i can change what i get in my work blazer with the way that i drive. i am learning how these blazers like to run when you are on the freeway because i was getting such bad city mileage in my 4x4 and now i am trying to put that to practice in my work blazer.

It all depends on the vehicle and weight along with what engine and trans.I had 77 2 door caprice with a somewhat mild cam,350 Eldabrock 650 carb hooker headers with duals 350 turbo trans with a shift kit with 373 gears from 86 monte carlo.I got 28mpg doing 70mph.
I had 77 chevy truck 350 built raticaly 400 turbo trance 3.08 gears 14mpg LOL.I have 94 GMC 4.3 with 4L60e 3.08 gears.19-20mpg hiway 14 city.
Soon to be 3.42 geared.I just got the rearend yesterday. When I get it in I`ll post back any improvements or not.Someone will need to remind me cause I`ll probaly forget.

I can almost taste a set of 3:73 gears with a square of 275x45x18. But wondering about gas milage and trans shift points.

That photo was taken about 15 years ago down south where I used to live in June or July.
