Default Jeep "Death Wobble" ???

Anyone else heard of this??? They say its only on Jeeps and I saw this happen on an old Grand Cherokee on 52. The wheels looked like they were going to fall off and i almost hit it cause slowed so quickly and the jeep was all over the road. I just took it as a bad alignment or something. But now it seems to be a regular occurrence. They said it has been reported on models going back to 95. I guess another reason you dont buy Chrysler.

see link.

Jeeps aren't the only ones, Ford Super Doodies have had problems with a "Death Wobble" as well. I've also been behind a lifted longbed crew cab chevy, I believe a K30, it was pre 1988, as it was going ~25MPH, hit a couple bumps and had a crazy death wobble. Probably because of the lift. But if I wasn't expecting that it would scare the **** out of me.

gms have this problem too, infact pretty much every make and model. i had a 85 k5 blazer with 38 inch tires that would put any of those videos to shame, it shook the truck so violently between 25-35 you couldnt drive the truck. its usually caused by worn suspension and steering parts, or unbalanced tires or a bit of both.

i pretty much fixed mine with balancing the tires and buying a dual shock stabilizer kit. my tires were old and flat spotted and took about 2lbs of weights on the front tires to get them CLOSE to being balanced, and those were the good tires, the once in back were worse lol.

also on the one ton axles. theres a little trick of putting more preload on the king pins but makes your steering a little tighter.

its weird seeing the one with the 2008 jeep, never really seen this on something that new, but leave it to chrysler to screw something up

Been out for years, but almost always due to an altered suspension.

I belong to Jeep forums, it seems it's almost always worn suspension and steering parts, or unbalanced tires.
Even with newer models.
