A complete 91 Explorer, more or less. Assembled from bits and pieces of other Explorers in the yard. Found one with a body in good shape and went with that. It wasn't pretty, but it was cheap, and it got me around until I felt like buying another vehicle. It was 2WD, had a 4.0 and a five speed. The chassis and panels were all on the base vehicle, the engine, I rebuilt. Transmission came out of a 97 Explorer. It wasn't a bad little Frankencar. It wasn't going to earn me any cool points, but of that I'm not so concerned.

Sakes, I ran one for 4 years back in the early 80's. We got some really cool stuff through the yard. The owner was a friend of mine but he let a lot of good stuff go for scrap. Stuff I rebuilt and sold rather than part out included several 1955-57 Chevies, we're talking hardtops and even a convertible, a supercharged Packard Hawk, and we built some really cool stuff too. One of the guys had a '69 Firebird with a 326 needing an engine. I told him for $300 he could use any Pontiac engine out back and the shop and equipment to put it in. He found a 421 H.O. engine in an old ambulance and stuffed it into a Firebird.

I just picked up a mint jimmy hood with AVS bug shield and vacuum ball, complete rear tire carrier, and 4 misc brackets two weeks ago for $15!! I picked up a almost brand new trailer hitch with hardware for $25 a couple months back as well. I only go to yards that allow me to pick myself otherwise I just buy new cause I have found the prices to be close if not cheaper for new if they pick things for you around here.
