Default Keyless entry inop.

Hey guys, I know that this isn't blazer related, that's why it's in this forum. Anyway, I have a 1998 Camaro Base coupe that is having issues with the keyless. First, I'd just have to hold the button down for a long time, and it seemed sluggish when it finally did work. I reprogrammed both remotes, and that helped. Now, it's completely inop. I was wondering if one of you GM techs knew how difficult it is to replace the reciever in the car; because, that's where i think i'm at with it. Maybe a little advice? Thanks guys.

Not to state the obvious, but have you replaced the battery in either keyfob?

can't help with your specific vehicle but replacing the receiver is pretty easy in my truck (94 s-10 blazer) the receiver is directly under the center console remove 4 screws pull the inside of the console and the receiver is right there just unplug the wire harness and it pulls right out.

edit:
bah almost forgot if you do have to replace this make sure the fcc id# on it matches your remotes or it will not work.

HaHa. yeah, I was a tech at Honda for a couple of years and that was the common fix for keyless problems... Replace the batteries. haha I did that before I reprogrammed them. I just can't seem to find much info online to help me, and the dealer gives me the standard "bring it in and give us $90 to diag. your problem." thanks guys.
