what the rope on the tire ?

I know if you tow it in a low gear it should start

 

Just the same as push starting it but it's jacked up & in gear.
If you could put a walk behind but self driven lawn mower in gear & push start it, that would be the same as push/pull starting a vehicle in gear with a manual trans.
The rope is ingenious in a simplified way.

It's the same difference really... you have this circumference (----------) way out here, spinning this circumference (-) way down here. Just like a pull start lawn mower, snow blower etc etc.

 

It always amazes me at the ingenuity (and sometimes the stupidity) that people have.

 

reminds me when I had my s15 when I was 16. Starter would only work occasionally and didnt have the cash for a new one. So it was alot of push starting and parking on a hill whenever possible (Try finding a hill in Winnipeg).

 

AHAHAHA, a hill in Winnipeg is like finding a camel with antlers.

It's funny that people still show that Neon on failblog. Apparently nobody reads, but that was done on purpose. The guy rolled his car and was doing that to blow the trans. It's all on the Neon forums I am a member of. The guy there is a member and posted up the video as soon as it was done.
