I wanted to start a milk thread months ago when I bought milk in the US - I was blown away by the cheapness of food there.

Alberta Canada, $3-4.79 a gallon at the grocery store, probably $5-6 + at the corner stores.

My beer - 12pack bottles of Budweiser, is $25.99 at the cheap stores, and $28.99 most others. The cheap stuff on the sale signs is $5.99 a sixer and its warm sitting on a pallet in the store. Yknow, for comparisson.

When I lived in BC, I used to go across in the USA to get groceries. We would go to the Fred Meyer store (grocery chain I think) and get gallon jugs for $1.25 a peice, or $1 each with the coupon if you buy X amount of stuff. I really liked that store. I was also blown away by meat prices! - And also by the size of your chickens!!!!! They are huge man! I got a 3 pack of prime rib steaks 8x8x2 inch thick - - - - FOR UNDER TWENTY BUCKS! At safeway here, those you would have to ask the butcher for, and that order would be $140 easy. The cows down there look scary huge in the fields too. Twice the size of ours and ripped like gym-guys. All that american meat and milk totally made me fatter by 20 pounds in 9 months too. And damn is that ever hard to work off now that Im eating good old Alberta beef and milk products. Whats up with that? But enough of my 'cool things in america' rant sorry.

Oh, and getting beer and groceries in the same building - GENIUS!

We go through 3-4 gallons of milk in my house a week. So far the place for us to buy it is at BJ's Wholesale Club.

and "ohsofly" we have a meat store down here. you can get a fresh nice ribeye or new york strip for $3 each.

When I'm home I drink a gallon of whole milk by myself a week, consequently i've never broken any bones (knock on wood) but this usually sets us back approx $3.29 a week in Indiana
