We finished it up last spring. He is making a few changes before it hits the road again this spring.

There is not too much original about this car.

The motor is a ZZ383 stroker crate from GM. Dyno was around 480 HP and 490 foot pounds of torque which is more than enough for the weight of this car. It will roast the tires at will. I wanted him to get a BB but he built it to handle as well as go fast.

The exhaust is aluminum and custom built right down to the hand made mufflers. They are very loud.

It has a built 700R4 trans so it has overdrive.

Ford 9" rear end with a 4 link.

Mustang II front clip from TCI.

4 wheel disc brakes with a line lock.

It is actually dark grey metallic on the top not black and silver on the bottom, both are Acura colors. The stripe is candy mandrin orange and you can't see it in the picture but the Chevy emblem is ghosted into the stripe right by the tail lights.

It took him (us) about 6 years from start to finish last spring. This was his first complete project. He did everything but the body work and paint.

Has he ran it at the track yet? Or is it just for show? I totally understand if just for show, but man, I'd have to take her one trip down the 1/4 mile!

He has talked about taking it to the track but he is still breaking it in and making a few minor changes. There is a new steering rack going in and better rear disc brakes. One of the coilovers was leaking so that is getting fixed as well as bigger tires for the front. It should be back on the road in the next couple weeks.

Heh... yep, from what I've read and seen, that's the problem with those kits.

If I was restomodding one of the great sixties cars, I'd be putting in a Mustang II setup as well. {For you that dont know, it's the susp and steering design used in Mustang II, not actual reclaimed parts. It frees up room between fenders for big block, headers, turbo.. etc. Plus possibility to improve the handling.}
But the problem is the competition for the kit market, end up cutting corners on the working parts.
