Default New Cars: Ford finally gets their S44t together

I'm a geezer. The hallmark of old geezer car nuts is they think new cars look like crap!

Been that way since forever.. sometimes with good reason. Think 1958 Buick Roadmaster.

The LAST car -other than Mustang- from Ford I thought was good looking was the Five Hundred, the Taurus Successor. Now Taurus itself is back in the mix..
Inside and out but REALLY inside!!

2013 Ford Taurus Review: Car Reviews

To me.. other than the high beltline, and that's probably never going away.. It's even better than the Five Hundred and the 95 Taurus, which isnt saying much but was way better than the Lumina competition.

Sorry, but no matter how much you polish a turd... it is still a turd. I have never liked fords, and while I will say the old mustangs are among the top of their cars, it doesn't mean much. That's my two cents worth, if its even worth that much

Yeah, I'm not much into Fords these days either. Actually, heck, I'd take a Dodge over a Ford right now. But Chevy has something for every Ford out there (almost). I would take the Camaro over the Mustang any day of the week! I would take the Duramax Silvy over the Powerstroke F250 any day of the week too! (Heck, I'd take the cummins ram over the stroke too!)

Nothing against Ford, but I don't want to have to fix or repair daily.

If I had my druthers, I would have Mopar all day long. But, to be fair, Chevy does have some of the longest lasting vehicles on the road, so I am still content with the Blazer I just picked up.

Fix or Repair daily, Found on road dead, driver returns on foot... this list goes on

You're right it isnt because your opinion isn't just opinion, it's based on tribology which means it's bull****! When any mfr does things right I'll say so.. nothing to do with flags or any other bigoted crap.
If you like this, I dont like you:

Cuz I would never post that about Chevy.. or even VW

Anyone on here who throws up that Fix or Repair Daily and think's it's true is either stupid or .. well.. stupid.

Sorry... but it's just a meme and has no basis in fact. The LAST F.O.R.D. ford was the nineties Mondeo/Contour. Truly a pig.

It has nothing to do with the emblem, but the quality of their cars. I have been around more fords than I care to count, and have seen a lot of issues with them that I havn't seen in others. A ford taurus, for example, blowing headgaskets twice within less than 20K miles, that isn't an issue with the emblem, but the quality that they built their car

You have analytical prowess one inch deep. Yes.. design flaw. Easily fixed with the PROPER procedure.
Just like the Lower intake gaskets. Bet you don't know WHY those head gaskets failed, do ya!
I do.
And I know why they failed on the replace.
And I've bought three successive cars with that exact engine.

Do ya want to know or prefer keeping your head up your hiney?

MAYBE if I'd said that in 96 Ford actually made the Taurus uglier than the Lumina, you feel better.

But I'll grant you one point, my opinion doesn't matter. None of ours does. Ford has already circled the problem.

And to answer your question, because it was a 1.9L engine, which is notorious for that problem.

I had an Escort also where I had to change the HG*. But a 93 to 97 3.8 L WILL blow headgaskets.. PERIOD!
And also crack the first gear accum piston in the trans.. both of which I knew about and profited from by being able to buy Tbirds Cheap.

You buy 'em with OVER 120,000 miles and you're all set.

Just like I was able to buy my Brava for 3000 when I had 6000 budgeted but couldnt find a comparable {meaning options loaded, in good condition} Explorer or Escape, even, anywhere for that 6 grand price.

Now WHY do you suppose that is?

* And BTW if those headgaskets blow again in 20k the mechanic doesnt know what he's doing.
I know for a fact because I didnt and it did.

Ok... I bought my Blazer for 3600, when it typically is sold anywhere from 5500 - 7200. Whats your point? If you look in the right places, you can get solid deals.
