New Chevy Trucks are TOO SMALL!!!

So i went to the Detroit Auto Show on Friday with my girlfriend and some friends. I was pumped to see the new cars and trucks that everyone is building.

First thing i do is jump into a brand new Chevy Silverado crew cab. I put the seat back to my riding distance and drop it to the floor to clear the headliner (no sunroof). Needless to say, i have all of an inch of clearance from the roofline to my head. I'm 6'3" and don't fit in a Silverado 1500. But, in a 2500 i have plenty of room..... I also fit better in the HONDA CRZ!!! So, then to try it out, i look at the Colorado, just because i like the look of them.... I fit in these just as well as i do in the Blazer.

i'm frustrated, so i went and checked the Sonic and Cruze. I also fit in those better than i do the 1500. i'm sorry GM, but if i fit in an F150, Dodge Ram, and even a small Honda CRZ.... WHY CAN'T YOU BUILD A 1500 TRUCK THAT I FIT IN???

So, unless they can fix that in the next few years, i'll be buying myself a Colorado or another company's truck which would kill me.

Detroit Auto Show is on my bucket list. Did you get any pics while you were there?

I never get to use the cool smileys since I'm on the forum on my phone. But since its 4 am and no ones awake I had time for once before someone beat me :-P

i did but they're on my girlfriends camera which means i might see them in a year.

i'm just really annoyed that i don't fit in the darn trucks.

Have you seen king of the hill? We could make you like cotton... lol, but that might not help when sitting since it was just his shins....:icon_couchhide:

OH MAN. thats brutal. When i went to high school there was 2 teachers, one was about 5 foot 1, the other was about 7 feet, just a giant, he had to duck under every door, and saw him hit his head on a fire exit sign walking through the hallway.
ANWAYS, the small guy drove a 1500, and the big guy drove an s10.....always got a kick out of that

It was one of those things that i've been looking forward to for the last month. Just got to the auto show and sit in the new trucks and all that. jump in and all i can think of is "i have literally 1/2 inch of space". but in the colorado i can fit my whole fist, thumb to pinkie, between my head and headliner.....

oh well, i'll just wait and see. GM has 2-3 years to fix it before i look elsewhere.... at a colorado, if they're still being built

blazinloud 01-23-2011 12:55 PM

buy a new seat and install it? could probably figure something out

cochran07 01-23-2011 01:11 PM

Its times like this I'm glad I'm 5'8! Haha

ABN31B 01-23-2011 01:18 PM

it's like this:

Americans are fat
GM is going bankrupt

the government wants healthier subjects so they cost less, live longer, pay more taxes
GM was saved by the government

now, how can we use this pairing to force our agenda.... :icon_denk:

this in only phase one... by the end of phase 3, this is what the 2017 Sierra 3500 will look like:

Gm isn't bankrupt anymore though, yeah the government owns a good chunk but they paid back the debt darn quick. i'm tall, i'm not a giant. i don't understand why not make a truck big enough for taller people. you have a seat that raises the person up and makes short people feel tall. why not design it so i can feel short?

blazinloud 01-23-2011 02:06 PM

prejudice bastards lol

MTopper 01-23-2011 02:17 PM

haha... true, but who knows. maybe they'll find a way to make it work in the next few years

xmradioguy 01-24-2011 02:50 AM

2012 is the last year for the canyon/colorado trucks.

JTalley 01-24-2011 09:23 AM

I know how you feel. I had to drive a car once where I literally had no clearance between my head and the roof. The whole time I was driving I actually had to hunch over and twist my head sideways and it still rubbed against the roof. It definitely wasn't fun.

so now gm is down to just their fullsize real trucks? pretty soon no trucks will have a frame anymore and run on electricity... I'll miss the hum of a V8... I'm looking forward to the auto show as well this coming weekend, I'll have to take some pics

MTopper 01-24-2011 06:29 PM

the Sierra 2500 HD concept is actually really cool looking but they need to do a lot of work on it if they ever want it to go to production. the seats look like a 12 year designed and sewed them together. other than that though it was pretty cool looking

ABN31B 01-24-2011 07:30 PM

the sierra all-terrain HD?

looks pretty cool. i have been waiting for a truck that can drive on glaciers and lava. those are two terrains that have escaped me :icon_angel:

well there are vehicles that can go on glaciers, now lava.....hmm.....i bet if you drove REALLY REALLY FAST over a flow about 2cm thick you MIGHT be fine! then you can say you did it
