How can I tell if a thread is too old to reply to?

 

Unless the thread is one that is one where people are adding supplemental information, almost like a reference thread, e.g., a build thread, if it is over a few months old, a new thread is often a better route.

This is especially true if the OP and other initial posters have pretty much resolved the issue or answered the question.

One thing to do that is appropriate with a new thread is to include a link to an older thread that is related or relevant to your question.
