I have a cobra whistler IIRC. & its never failed me expect against light-radar. i have mine in the bottom corner of my windshield on the D/S. I've heard good things about all the escort lines but there to pricey for me.

I have a cobra radar detector mounted just of the dash of few inches on the windshield. The radar detector will buy you time to slow down if there are others on the road. If you are the only one on the road and the cop pings you, you are busted. I purchased mine from the link below. The very best is the Valentine 1, Passport or Bell. All very expensive.

Should not be covered. You will reduce the radar range and the laser portion will be NFG.

There are two piece detectors that you can have the reciever in the grill and display in the car.

Haven't had a detector since the mid '80s. Found it to be much cheaper to just drive the speed limit.

had an old cobra for 8 years, worked great.. have a cheapo whistler now (free)... don't use it much, have it taped to the dash in the company van... find it's easier to just spot the cops then to rely on the detector... usually it's too late once you hear it go off anyway....
