Well, New Zealand is hugely dependant on tourism & the effects of the recession is now impacting all over. Today, I was made redundent.

I'm a campervan / motorhome builder & we build for our own rental fleet here & in Australia. We've been building around 5 vehicles a week & are now down to 2! Exports to Australia, which accounted for 50% of our production, have dried up as the tourism drops there too. New Zealand is still strong till next summer. As a result of the drop off in production some of us got laid off today.

Use of the black beast comes to a grinding halt. I'll have to park it off & share the wife's Toyota RAV4 from now.

Yea. Whilst there was no redundancy clause in the contract. The owner has set up a meeting for Monday & he'll tell us (6 of us were laid off) what he plans to do to help. With luck we may get 2 weeks pay.

wow really sorry to hear about that. Its sad to see that the economic issues are really affecting more than just us in the US but it is more of a Global problem ... I hope you find a new job soon and get back on track.
