Default Running Temperatures ?

What do Blazers temperatures run at during hot summer months ? Mine is around 200. Is this normal ?

You posted this in the incorrect sub, anyway yes ~190-200 is correct, could put in a 180 thermostat to drop it down some if you wish.

I am at 200, even during the hot summer months, the only time I run a bit above that is when its 95 degrees with 90% humidity, and I have the AC on, then I am around 210.

I ran the '98 Jimmy over Blewett and Snoqualmie Passes last month. 60-70mph, A/C on, I ran as hot as 210°F for short times. Mostly it was 195-200°F.

I'm going to Yakima this weekend for a couple gigs. It's going to be 100°F over there. I'll see how it does.

Dropping the temp is a bad idea.. The engine wont run correctly using more gas.


All our chevys run at 200. 210 in the summer under load either towing or having the ac on

i didn't know that mine has a 180 thermostat in it, do you think it might help my mileage?

Yep These motors like to run hot. IF it dont reach over 195 its going to keep running rich till it gets to that temp.

Interesting, I will have to look into this some.

do you notice an higher idle?? whats your temp stay at

warmed up mine idles at around 700RPM on the first line on the temp gauge in the cluster
