I think the GSIII (dual-core) and Galaxy Note II (quad-core) are the best phones out right now. At this point, they are future proof because you won't ever do anything on your phone requiring as much processing power as they have. I would list the top 3 phones as the Galaxy Note II, GSIII, then the iPhone 5 in 3rd place tied with the Galaxy Nexus.
I'm still waiting on the GSIII to get JellyBean. Looks like they might of delayed the release of it tbh. So I'm heavily considering rooting it and putting the Synergy rom on it.

he right the north america gs3 is a 1.5 dual core snapdragon s4 processor which is still very powerful!!
