Default Texas Deer

All I gotta say is the deer in these here parts sure are lucky that out of state licenses are so expensive.

2 10 pointers
1 12 pointer
1 8 pointer
at 3 4 pointers
and countless does and spikes/ yearlings.

And all on the job site.

Chase them north: I've been out four times in the last couple weeks, and all I had a shot at was a too-small buck.

Yeah, the area around Marble Falls has as high a deer count as I have seen anywhere in the state. Also some of the best tasting deer. I know around Burnet they eat a type of clover that I suspect helps give them that taste. But cripes, I have never seen more cactus than they have around that area!

I saw 5 medium sized deer this morning. They never got close enough to my stand for me to take a shot (200+ yards is too far for my 870). This morning was opening day.

I had to contend with NYSEG (NY State Electric & Gas) this morning though so I was only out in my stand for 3 hours. Seems a high tension line decided to break last night about 100 yards from my stand... The wire broke off of 10 poles all together when it snapped.

If I can get to sleep at a decent hour tonight, I'll be back out tomorrow morning. If not, it'll be Thanksgiving day before I'm back out in my stand.

A 14 point buck was hit by a teenage girl in the next town over a week or so ago! Thing was HUGE!

If I "chase" hem north my *** is running them down and claiming them as roadkill! The young'ns taste the best though.

Can you say BOW?! Quiet and legal in most city limits.

Heh, I've got a nice rifle and that's all I need!

Besides, I hear bow hunting is tough, and a good bow is quite pricey.

Yeah but if they so used to seeing people you could just walk up with the Wal-Mart brand and kill the ****es.

Or a .22 with a potato stuffed on the barrel will work too. Just jam it on there, shoot it once to get a "bore" and it'll bne quieter than a popcorn fart!

Well the thing is, they are "wild" deer. Broken Arrow is probably 12 miles wide at the widest point.. but only 6 or 7 are "city" miles. The rest is rural housing, woods, and fields which is where I saw them. Problem being it is in city limits and I don't want a felony charge. Plus discharging a firearm in the city, yatta yatta. It's also a good 1.5hr haul to the nearest check in station here for tags, etc.
