But when you really think about it: My Packard Bell Legend is over 15 years old and still runs very well and even has USB! However my 2004 VAIO is on it's second motherboard and has become an absolute dog... Same price... Jusssss sayin'!

I'll top that one, I have an old IBM PS/2 Model 30 in the basement. It STRUGGLES with Win 3.0. Why? Intel 8086 processor. 640K of ram, a 5MB HDD and a 3.5 floppy. I use to use it as an old packet machine for ham radio.

I like looking at old ads like that to really get a feel of what was awesome back then. Now my phone has better specs and does more stuff in 1/8 of the size.

Yeah, but the 386 was probably the most bulletproof computer out there. I got one for free from a friend who had left it out in the rain, 100+ degree days and snow for 10 years, it fired right up and started Windows. I used that computer for about 3 years before the CMOS battery exploded and ruined it.

Sorry for all the posts in this thread that are mine, old computers are kinda my thing. Gotta have someone representin' the CGA!

Regards,

Thomas

Maybe it's just me...but I can't stand old technology. I have to have the latest and greatest everything lol. It just sucks that my salary right now doesn't allow for it. I'm terrible with cell phones. I'll get a new one every year or so (even though I'm on a 3yr contract) just to have the latest tech lol.

Hate to say it but that is a much better package than my first desktop, though I only paid $1400.
