tool edicate

ok this is something growing up with my grandpa in his shop has been drilled into the very fibers on my brain...You use a tool and when your done wipe it off and put it back!! i hate having tools that are full of grease in a tool box.
not only do tools need to be clean but they need to be in the correct drawer and in order (i swear i dont have ocd lol im just picky lol)
the reason i bring this up is becuse i let my youngest brother use my tools while i was away and when i came home he had my tools all over the shop all full of freakin grease ...
soo
what are some other tool edicate rules you can think of??
sorry for the rant lol btw

I would like to have the time to always pick everything up after each job, but lately that hasn't been the case. For a while I was doing good. I still do spray everything down with WD40 then wipe them dry to clean & protect, but just don't end up putting everything away since things keep overlapping.

If I'm doing something time consuming, I'll take breaks in between TO clean everything up as to not have a cluster. One of my biggest peeves though is someone putting something away broken/damaged and not saying anything. My stuff all is either lifetime warranty or some cheap found thing I don't care about... TELL ME! If I break some elses tools I make sure to tell them face to face. Be respectful to other peoples things!

I agree with kyle ... I wipe mine down with wd 40 also ...
they always tend to stay clean and always get cleaned after each use...
MY dad and I are very picky about our tools.
Even the tools in my blazer are spotless.

The only tool etiquette I know of is to hide my tools so I can have access to a 10mm or 15mm wrench...His tools are disgusting....he puts mine away shiny clean! As much as the grease bugs me.....he does save us a ton of money on fixing things.......*sigh* Should have married me a carpenter....

dont borrow it without asking
put it back the way you found it
and never ever move a tool from where it is...its prob there for later so i dont have to find it again.
you break it you replace it
you lose it you replace it

If you have to borrow a tool twice, you should buy your own... Was a rule in my shop, its why tool trucks make weekly visits
We also were not allowed to posess/use a "Ukrainian socket wrench" in my shop - adjustable crescent wrench, or monkey wrenches. LOL if you dont have the right tool that fits a customer car, borrow or buy.
Things that would get a guy fired...
-Throwing tools or parts when mad/frustrated
-Tightening lugnuts with impact guns
-Test drivrs with dirty hands/clothes.
-Using a hammer for anything other than tapping punches. Thats what deadblows, prybars and pullers are for
-Sniping wrenches, they slip and damage customer cars.
