I talked to a guy that supposedly wrote some of apples OS, and he said their crap. Here again this was a guy at a bar so he was probably talking out of his *** as he was about being in the military. Some of the things he was saying about the military was total b/s.

I had to bump this thread after my LG Eve decided to crap out with the vibration alert which I need at work. Working in a manufacturing shop & driving a forklift a lot of the day makes it a must. So I got a Samsung Galaxy SII Samsung Galaxy S II specs
Wicked phone I must say! I also got an Otter Box case for it & man is this case a brute - a hard plastic shell with a foam liner inside a rubber case that even has a screen protector & all ports covered by a rubber flap that locks in place. Case was $60 so it had better be good.

Have had my Droid 2 for awhile now. It'll be 2 years in just a few months. I don't really care for some of the quirks with the Droid 2. It has some serious random reboot issues. I'm thinking stability with Gingerbread is horrible. That is what's causing all these issues. I liked Froyo a lot better. The only thing Gingerbread is good for is the black status bar, that's it...

I've only had it 2 days & no issues with stability. I saw streblo say a long time ago he has a program he uses on his BB to clear memory issues. But so far I LOVE this phone (if I can call it that). An app I really like for androids is pintail so you can find your phone & heytell. Heytell makes your cell a 2 way radio between you & someone else that has it installed. It's free & you press the screen button/icon, talk & let go of it. It sends the voice message to the other person you chose & it doesn't cost air time. I use it with a friend in Ohio (remember I'm in canada) & I checked my account for data, mins, etc etc... nothing changed but data & that was minimal.

WTF is the black status bar, the bar at the top? I had that on my LG Eve, the bar you drag down to see notifications?!

Yeah, the previous versions (2.2 and later) had a white bar at the top. With Gingerbread (2.3), the bar changed to black. And there are no issues until you've owned the phone for awhile. It'll randomly reboot, freeze from time to time and the screen won't turn off from time to time. Just warning you ahead of time. The battery life is awful just like every other smartphone, but I'm ready to upgrade soon. Just not ready for the upgrade price tag that comes along with it.

They are computers & do need to be rebooted, I've told that to friends 10 years ago. "It's a mini computer, shut it off & start it again, it'll work faster."
As for the randomly rebooting etc - something I may get to look forward to, I hope not lol.
The battery life I know isn't outstanding, 5hrs talk, 10 hrs standby etc or close to that. It's a mini tablet, that's why I said It's tough calling it a phone, because being a phone is secondary for all it can do. But I love the Androids & the open market for apps. You just have to be careful what you dl. I hate proprietary systems like Apple.
My old Dell computer had proprietary ram... omfg what a PITA that was to upgrade.
